Alleyne Wood Design

ABOUT ME

Hi I’m Alleyne, thanks for visiting my site!

I am a Brisbane based designer who specialises in biophilic design. As an interior designer with almost two decades of experience in the horticultural industry under my belt, I have made it my goal to design and create truly amazing indoor and outdoor garden-scapes and inspiring interiors that incorporate elements of the natural world.

For the past few years I have been running my own small landscape and design business as a sole trader, but am currently searching for a creative and rewarding employed role in the design industry working in the fields of landscape, and or interiors.

My website contains my design portfolio and some of the past work I have done for my own clients.

With qualifications in horticulture, interior design and also some construction education, I have CAD software experience and have received academic awards including the Southbank TAFE Interior Design award for β€œVision and Aesthetic”. I have a keen eye for detail and love to problem solve when it comes to designing difficult and unusual spaces. I have experience working with NDIS and aged care clientele with an interest in creating sensory gardens for therapy and education as well as general enjoyment. I have a deep interest and extensive knowledge of plants and their culture, in my spare time I collect, breed and propagate rare aroids in my home greenhouses.

With a real driving passion for my work, experience and skills, I believe I have plenty to offer to a new creative and forward thinking team. I’m happy to manage my own workload autonomously as well as working alongside others.

Please do not hesitate to contact me by email if you are interested in working with me or for any future design ideas or consulting

MOTIVATION:

I have always been inspired by the natural world and was lucky enough to grow up on a beautiful property surrounded by rainforest in the mid-north coast hinterland of NSW, Australia. I made the move to the city for work and study, though as time went on, I longed for nature. This catalysed my interest in creating biophilic interiors.

There is no doubt that the natural environment is at critical risk, and we need to make some drastic changes in the way we shape our world at present. I believe green structures are imperative in the way forward for architecture and design and have been proven to improve our physical and mental health. I aim to try to improve people’s quality of life, where they can enjoy nature indoors as well as out, and have better access to clean air, food and water with innovative and well-planned design solutions.

What is Biophilia?

β€œAn innate and genetically determined affinity of human beings with the natural world.”

Testimonials

  • "Alleyne designed and installed our beautiful outdoor rain shower gardens and installed and maintains all of the interior landscaping in the studio areas. Alleyne had a vision and was able to articulate this through detailed sketches to show us, the client, the intention. The rain shower gardens are a very popular feature of our studio. Alleyne is a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend."

  • My apartment was starting to look a bit dated and needed a revamp. When I contacted Alleyne to do my interior design she really listened to me when I told her what I wanted. What she delivered was not only what I wanted, but far exceeded my expectations. She has a real eye for detail with this stuff! I love my new space and I am very happy."

  • "We engaged the services of Alleyne Wood Design for our gardens and terraced area project. What sets Alleyne apart from many landscape professionals is she has not only the knowledge when it came to the construction, but had superior knowledge of the plants selected and was happy to discuss each species with us and why it was suitable. This really shone through in regards to how the gardens have evolved over time and resulted in there being very little maintenance required by us. We are very satisfied with her work."
